The cissexist demand that trans people continually authenticate our experiences of gender carries with it the implication that such experiences are parodic or artificial. In a writerly and artistic context, this demand translates itself into an aesthetic imperative to authenticate ourselves as trans writers, often by appealing to familiar tropes of gendered narratives. In this issue we aim to confront this social demand and collectively negate it by embracing formal techniques of derivative and secondary composition.

This issue includes a fold-out.
